Liberty Leading The People was painted by French artist Eugène Delacroix in 1830 to commemorate the July Revolution. The artwork depicts a woman personifying the concept and the Goddess of Liberty leads the people forward over a barricade and the bodies of the fallen, holding the flag of the French Revolution – the tricolour flag, which remains France's national flag – in one hand and brandishing a bayonetted musket with the other. Delacroix Liberty Leading The People is oil painting on canvas, 260 cm × 325 cm (102.4 in × 128.0 in), and displays at Louvre.
